The beauty of street photography, like pretty much everything else in life, is having great things happening in front of you when you least expect it.

In street photography things unfold in front of your eyes and a photographer must be ready for them, even he’s not out on the street for photos. This Saturday I was with my friend Ruben at one of CCB‘s cafes, a lazy Summer afternoon chatting about future trips and projects. Between coffees and beers and a quick jump to Berardo Museum we ended up at one of the buildings inner courtyards.

Like many other times I was carrying my compact camera on my bag, and I’ve been there thousands of times, seen how sometimes a cloud of cool water vapor is released in Summer days, how the light works with those limestone walls to create cool silhouettes, knew what to expect from that spot. Even so, I was there just for five minutes, made ten photos, at most, but things just happened the right way and I ended up with a couple of my favorite street shots of the last months.
I agree with you. You were there at the right moment to take a wonderful photo.
